 About the role:  

Reporting to the Director of Technical Services, the Senior Lead, Professional Practice is accountable for the strategic development, implementation, and continuous evolution of EVR’s Professional Practice Program across British Columbia and Alberta. This role ensures regulatory compliance with bodies such as EGBC, APEGA, ASTTBC etc. while advancing professional governance as an integrated, value-driven function across the organization.

To be successful, we are looking for a strong leader with exceptional written, listening and influencing skills. The role partners closely with site teams and central support functions to embed professional practice requirements into day-to-day operations and business processes, strengthening risk management and enabling consistent, high-quality professional practice. The Senior Lead also works closely with the Responsible Registrants across the various areas of practice. We require someone with strong communication skills with a demonstrated affinity for relationship building within EVR and external stakeholder groups. As a recognized leader and trusted advisor, the Senior Lead fosters a strong culture of professionalism, accountability, and ethical practice across EVR.

In this role you will:

  • Participate in and adhere to health and safety programs and policies  
  • Own and continuously enhance EVR’s Professional Practice Management Plan, ensuring alignment with evolving regulatory requirements and business priorities
  • Lead and implement strategic initiatives to advance professional practice across EVR, including program development (such as EIT/GIT framework), Responsible Registrant succession planning, and building capability
  • Partner with site teams and central support functions to embed professional practice requirements into operations and business processes, driving consistency, compliance, and professional excellence
  • Drive organizational awareness and adoption of professional practice requirements through training, engagement, and targeted communications across approximately 400 registrants
  • Oversee program delivery, including systems, audit readiness, risk management, and continuous improvement of professional practice processes
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to Responsible Registrants, registrants, and leadership, providing guidance on regulatory requirements, ethical considerations, and professional accountability
  • Establish and manage budgets, monitor regulatory developments, and act as the primary liaison with regulators and industry peers; provide regular updates on program performance, risks, and priorities to senior leadership

 

 

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Geoscience
  • Registered, or eligible for registration, with Engineers and Geoscientists of British Columbia (EGBC) and/or the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta (APEGA)
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in the resource sector or a related industry
  • Demonstrated leadership and influence in cross-functional environments, with the ability to engage and align diverse stakeholder groups
  • Strong understanding of professional governance, regulatory compliance, and risk management principles
  • Experience leading or supporting large-scale programs, transformation initiatives, or multidisciplinary efforts in complex organizations
  • Proven ability to develop and implement processes, manage change, and drive adoption across a broad organization
  • Deep understanding of EGBC and/or APEGA regulatory frameworks and their practical application is considered an asset
  • Valid Class 5 Driver’s License or equivalent 
The actual base salary offered is determined based on the successful candidate’s relevant experience, skills, and competencies and considers internal equity.
