About the role:
 
Reporting to the Manager Talent Development, Performance & Succession, the Advisor, Leadership Development is responsible for designing, delivering, and supporting programs that develop talent across all areas of our business.  We have a solid foundation of leadership development content, are updating our leadership capability model and have identified our learning priorities for the business.  It is an exciting time to be joining the team.
 
This role provides guidance and expertise for corporate learning initiatives and talent strategies and works in partnership with the Site HR and Leadership & Development Advisors to deliver high quality, high gain initiatives in support of corporate goals and strategies.  
 
To be successful, we are looking for someone with strong interpersonal and communication skills, with effective ability to deal with diverse stakeholders. Someone who can positively influence, partner with, and coach others and can work well independently on projects from start to finish.
 
Our operations are based in the Elk Valley in British Columbia so travel to our various sites is a requirement for the role.  Calgary-based employees work from our downtown offices in The Bow. Elk-Valley based employees will work in our new office facility in Sparwood. Working a compressed work week with alternating Fridays off, come experience what work life balance is all about!

In this role you will:

  • Participate in and adhere to health and safety programs and policies
  • Lead the design, development, and implementation of organization-wide leadership programs that support the needs of the business.
  • Serve as an internal knowledge resource for instructional design, facilitation, leadership development, learning effectiveness, and other organizational development methodologies and tools.
  • Conduct needs assessments to identify skills or knowledge gaps and work with business leaders to build appropriate solutions and sustainment plans.
  • Work with stakeholders to design practical ways to develop skills and capabilities that build personal effectiveness and accelerate career development.
  • Develop training, curricula, courses and content for business planning meetings and team effectiveness workshops.
  • Partner with external consultants and vendors to manage the delivery of current and future learning solutions to ensure program objectives are met and to evaluate the return on investment for various initiatives.
  • Facilitate leadership development programs to a wide range of audiences and on a variety of topics.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of training programs through feedback, assessments, and performance metrics.
  • Build relationships with stakeholders across the business and stay current on learning needs and trends and to support a consistent approach across all our sites and offices.
  • Perform other related duties as required.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Human Resources, Business, Organization Development or Adult Education.
  • Minimum 10 years’ experience in Human Resources with at least 3 year’s experience in Learning and Development with a focus on employee and leadership development programs.
  • Thorough understanding of talent development trends and practices and a good understanding of the mining, or a similar, industry.
  • Strong planning, prioritizing and organizing skills; self-directed; able to identify, create and action multiple, individual, departmental and organizational improvements and projects while working in a collaborative and consultative approach with stakeholders.
  • Previous experience effectively supporting leadership teams in areas of change management, team effectiveness, conflict resolution, facilitation and problem solving.
  • Experience designing and facilitating workshops and meetings at various levels of the organization.
  • Ability to analyze data and use it to identify trends and opportunities to improve training programs.
  • Comfort with ambiguity and the confidence to know the process will build the right solution.
  • Able to maintain confidentiality and a high level of integrity.
  • Ability to travel
  • Equal comfort and credibility working in complex, industrial and safety sensitive environments and in traditional office settings
  • Microsoft Office Suite
  • Valid Class 5 Driver’s License or equivalent
The actual base salary offered is determined based on the successful candidate’s relevant experience, skills, and competencies and considers internal equity.
