About the role:

Reporting to the Manager, Security, Emergency Preparedness & Risk Management, the Senior Coordinator, Emergency Preparedness (Regional) provides regional leadership, expertise, and program development across all EVR operational assets. This role ensures the integration of EVR’s Emergency Response FHMP and Crisis & Incident Standard into site-level operations and supports continuous improvement of emergency preparedness, security support, and risk management programs.

Unlike site‑based roles focused on managing mine rescue teams and daily emergency response, this regional position emphasizes strategic program development, regional coordination, high‑level technical support, and strengthening collaboration across EVR assets and external agencies.

To excel in this role, the successful candidate must be highly organized, adaptable, and capable of managing diverse priorities. Strong communication, facilitation, and problem‑solving skills are essential.

In this role you will:

Participate in and adhere to health and safety programs and policies
Support EVR assets in embedding the Emergency Response FHMP Fatal Hazard Management Plan and Crisis & Incident Standard, including pre‑incident planning, readiness reviews, and program audits
Lead development and continuous improvement of regional emergency management programs, guidance, tools, and shared training standards
Facilitate annual Credible Threat workshops to inform training requirements, equipment standards, and resource allocation
Coordinate the annual EVR Mine Rescue Competition, including program design, logistics, and stakeholder engagement
Develop and support regional training for high‑risk credible threats and specialized rescue (technical rescue, hazmat, advanced fire response), including NFPA‑aligned training and certification frameworks
Liaise with RDEK (Regional District of East Kootenay), local fire departments, BCAS, and SAR, and participate in regional crisis simulations with community and emergency service partners
Provide guidance on fire protection codes, response time standards, and fire system design expectations, and support related risk assessments and investigations
Maintain regional documentation, guidance, training materials, and shared templates
Support regional reviews, performance reporting, and alignment initiatives across assets
Contribute to regional emergency and security strategic planning, budgeting, and annual improvement planning

Requirements:

Emergency Response, Fire Services, Disaster & Emergency Management, or related background; or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Minimum five years of relevant experience in emergency response, emergency management, mine rescue, or industrial fire/rescue programs
Experience in program development, training design, and cross-functional coordination
Experience with industrial firefighting and technical rescue considered an asset
Experience with emergency management platforms (e.g., D4H) considered an asset
Strong understanding of fire protection systems, emergency response codes/standards, and incident management principles
NFPA 1081, NFPA 1001, NFPA 1041, NFPA 1072, NFPA 1006, or similar technical rescue certifications considered an asset
Emergency Operations Centre (EOC) 300 or higher ICS training
Surface Mine Rescue certification and Occupational First Aid Level III (or equivalents) considered assets
Ability to travel routinely to EVR sites and partner agency locations

The actual base salary offered is determined based on the successful candidate’s relevant experience, skills, and competencies and considers internal equity.
