About the role:  

Reporting to the Lab Supervisor, the Analyst, Sampler is responsible for providing accurate coal preparation and assay testing to ensure customer satisfaction and mining performance for our operations. Although this position is casual in nature, the anticipated hours will generally align with a structured full‑time schedule when providing coverage.

To be successful, we are looking for someone who can work well with a team as well as empower themselves as an individual. Due to the importance of this work in our coal process, accuracy and efficiency are extremely important. You must be able to multi-task, stay organized, prioritize your work, and manage the handling of samples up to 25kg to keep the process moving efficiently. Since you will be engaging multiple partners across our site, strong communication and interpersonal skills will be vital.

You will have the chance to work with partners from many different departments and mine sites, giving you exposure to the different processes involved in our operations. This gives you the opportunity for growth in different streams of our business. You will also gain knowledge about our different coal blends, ensuring their accuracy for our customers around the world.

In this role you will:

  • Participate in and adhere to health and safety programs and policies
  • Collect and process hourly production samples, plant circuits and customer samples in a safe and efficient manner
  • Analyze coal utilizing specific procedures that incorporate ASTM and ISO standards such as, alkali extraction, proximate analysis, FSI, screening, magnetite analysis, washes as well as plant production analysis
  • Operate a forklift or loader and manual forklift

Requirements:

  • Technical diploma or high school degree with related experience 
  • Proficient with the Microsoft Office Suite®, particularly Excel and Word 
  • Valid Class 5 Drivers' License
The actual base salary offered is determined based on the successful candidate’s relevant experience, skills, and competencies and considers internal equity.
