About the role:
 
Reporting to the Facilities Lead, the Supervisor, Facilities Maintenance is responsible for supporting management and maintenance of site facilities at Fording River Operations. The Supervisor will have a compliment of labourers and tradespeople including the janitorial staff, and be responsible for supervision of contractors as required, ensuring contractor adherence to the BC Mines Code and EVR’s Health and Safety policies and procedures, and conducting regular job site inspections and audits.
 
To be successful, we are looking for someone with excellent organizational, interpersonal and communication skills, who can coordinate the efforts of others to accomplish objectives. Someone who will thrive in a fast-paced environment with minimal direction but also works well collaborating with a team. Strong problem- solving, multi-tasking and decision-making abilities are vital in this role.

In this role you will:

  • Participate in and adhere to health and safety programs and policies
  • Advise the troubleshooting of equipment failures to determine root cause and initiate appropriate remedial action
  • Coordinate quality maintenance and repair of assets to improve availability and reliability for production  
  • Handle daily and weekly work schedules to ensure work is completed on time and on budget
  • Supervise and improve employee work performance and efficiency, ensuring quality standards
  • Assist in sourcing and requisitioning supplies, equipment, and services within budgeted guidelines
  • Ensure repair history is accurately detailed as work is performed  
  • Maintain vacation schedules using Vacation Allotment guidelines, recommending and approving overtime work
  • Recommend contractor needs based on load and supervise contractors
  • Lead unionized hourly workers, contractors and collaborate closely with other external partners
  • Work with all partners within FRO, to develop and implement the overall maintenance strategy for the site
  • Track and report Key Performance Indicators of our maintenance processes and systems
  • Work to identify maintenance improvement opportunities and identifying maintenance processes which are either missing or are not being utilized
  • Coordinate the development and sharing of ‘Best Practice’ templates for work planning, scheduling and execution

Requirements:

  • High school diploma and Journeyperson’s ticket, related technical diploma or Engineering degree, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Excellent digital literacy in Microsoft Office Suite® particularly in Excel, Outlook, and Word
  • Experience in execution, planning and scheduling maintenance activities
  • Supervisory or team leading experience would be considered an asset
  • Valid Class 5 Driver’s License or equivalent
  • Technical understanding of equipment maintenance and maintenance strategies and their implementation
  • Experience with materials acquisition, planning, and scheduling
  • Experience with budgeting and accrual processes
  • Experience with digital systems and real time monitoring equipment
  • Familiar with the regulatory environment associated with industrial maintenance processes, and systems
  • BC Mine Supervisor Certificate and Mine Rescue certification is an asset, or willingness to acquire
  • Knowledge of BC’s Health, Safety and Reclamation Code is an asset
