About the role:
Reporting to the Central Lab Lead, the Technician, Laboratory is responsible for providing accurate coal preparation and assay testing to ensure customer satisfaction and mining performance for multiple sites in our operations.
To be successful, we are looking for a self-motivated, collaborative individual who can effectively engage with a variety of partners across our sites. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, combined with the ability to multitask, stay organized, prioritize competing demands are key to ensuring operational efficiency.

In this role you will:
- Participate in and adhere to health and safety programs and policies
- Prepare and process daily composite and customer samples in a safe and efficient manner
- Analyze coal using specific procedures that incorporate ASTM and ISO standards such as dilatation, fluidity, phosphorus, Sulphur, alkali extraction, TSS, proximate analysis, FSI, screening, magnetite analysis, froth cell analysis, stockpiles, drill holes as well as plant production analysis
- Maintain technical updates, keeping the coal laboratory procedures current
- Assist with train reports and maintain the assay program
- Calibrate various pieces of lab equipment and keep track of calibration dates, order parts, and put in work orders for repair
Benefits:
- Technica diploma or high school diploma, with related experience
- Minimum one year of experience with coal analysis using related equipment
- Valid Class 5 Driver’s License
- Operate ICO-OES is an asset
