Vic Stampton Technical Growth Scholarship

 

About Vic Stampton:

During his time at Mount Isa Mines, Vic Stampton, Supervisor of Mining Research, embodied the idea of innovation contributing to the transformation of mining technologies in areas of ground support, instrumentation, testing and backfill.

For 40 years, Vic worked with and inspired many professionals and tradespeople. He encouraged his colleagues to challenge adversity and never accept that something could not be done. Vic was an engineer, a tradesman, an innovator and an artist who contributed greatly to the Australian mining industry.

 

About the scholarship:

The Vic Stampton Technical Growth Scholarship aims to continue his legacy by awarding scholarships to employees in current pathway development programs looking to continue their development through university study in a mining or engineering related field.

 

The scholarship provides:

  • $4,000 in financial support, paid in two instalments.
  • The opportunity to undertake paid vacation work at our Mount Isa Mines operations, providing practical experience alongside your university studies.
  • The potential to progress to further development opportunities within Glencore.

 

We’re looking for individuals who:

  • Are currently participating in an eligible Glencore pathway development program.
  • Intend to commence or continue university study in a mining, engineering or related technical discipline.
  • Demonstrate a strong commitment to their ongoing learning and professional development.
  • Show initiative, curiosity and a willingness to challenge conventional thinking.
  • Demonstrate a strong commitment to safety, teamwork and Glencore’s values.
  • Are motivated to apply their developing technical knowledge within an operational environment.
  • Are available to undertake vacation work at Mount Isa Mines during university breaks.
  • Have the support of their leader to undertake further study and participate in the scholarship program.
