The HR Generalist provides comprehensive operational HR support and guidance to line managers and employees across the group functions, with particular focus on Swiss HR Operations. The role supports managers in applying effective people management practices and ensures compliance with Swiss labor legislation, social security regulations, and internal policies.

Working closely with HR Business Partners, the HR Generalist supports day‑to‑day HR activities across the employee lifecycle, including onboarding, contract management, employee relations, absence management, and offboarding. The role contributes to the implementation and administration of HR programs, policies, and processes, ensuring consistent and compliant HR practices and positive employee experience.

Key responsibilities

  • Support HRBP’s to deliver people initiatives, by providing operational support and advice on HR matters.

  • Support the application of Swiss employment law in daily HR operations, providing guidance on contracts, working time, leave, performance improvement, termination, and internal HR policies.

  • Produce and present business‑focused people analytics and data packs, identifying workforce trends and insights to support informed decision‑making by HR Business Partners and leadership teams.

  • Support the HRBP’s with cyclical processes, for example performance cycles, talent reviews, compensation evaluation.

  • Provide operational support to managers on people processes, sharing best practice in line with local employment law and ensure they take responsibility for their managerial processes.

  • Be the second line of support to queries that HR Hub cannot answer immediately, by looking at legacy issues patterns or further background where no policy exists, build proposals and engage with the relevant HR COE’s and or the HR Hub.

  • Be proactive in identifying people issues and trends within in the business and work together with their key stakeholders to build and implement pragmatic and business orientated solutions.

  • Work closely with the HR Hub as well as the COE’s to align on key processes, policy application and changes within the business.

  • Keep up to date with Swiss employment legislation, providing suggestions for changes and improvements to our own policies and processes.

  • Work closely with HR Colleagues, to contribute to HR projects and provide ideas and suggestions.

  • Be the point of contact and own the 120 days permit process end to end from guidelines, reporting, application and renewal process.

  • Parental leave management – own the end to process (parental agreements, unpaid leave, informing authorities, AHV declaration etc.

  • Own the end-to-end process Meldeverfahren (short term work procedure Switzerland).

  • Point of contact for Buettikhofer and AHV new social security numbers and update documents annually.

  • Work Permit – support employees with applications for work permits liaising with the local migration office. Monthly reporting on permit expirations dates, collaborate with employees ensuring permits are valid and in Workday.

  • Long-term sickness leave management, from administration to liaising with employees and advising managers in line with company policy.  Point of contact and relationship owner for the Doctor of Trust.

  • Own SECO permit process (Sunday & Public Holiday work permits) from request to renewal.

  • Own the onboarding for all employees – overall coordination and organisation.

  • Support on drafting and uploading employee communication to the Intranet (e.g. year-end pension election, salary certificate)

  • Conduct exit interviews, review data on a quarterly basis to identify any key themes.

The ideal candidate

  • Highly proficient in preparing reports and analysing and presenting data to inform business decisions on people related topics.

  • Ability to work on multiple projects and priorities.

  • Good listening and problem-solving skills, with a customer-service mindset.

  • Experience working with and providing HR Support to multiple stakeholder groups at various levels.

  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally with employees and managers at all levels.

Qualifications and requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Psychology, or a related field.

  • 5-8 years of experience in an HR generalist or HR operations role.

  • Excellent knowledge of Swiss employment legislation and policy and practical application.

  • Experience working with HR systems (Workday) and maintaining accurate employee data.

  • Fluent in German and English.

  • Holding a Swiss work permit or passport holder of CH / EU / EFTA.
