Regional Procurement Services Manager

Location: Melrose Arch, Johannesburg, South Africa

Reporting: Regional Transactional Services Lead: Africa

Function: Transactional Services

JOB PURPOSE:

The purpose of this role is to lead and coordinate procurement services across Africa by driving governance, standardisation, and efficient Procure-to-Pay (P2P) processes, while supporting operational delivery and ensuring compliance with company policies and controls.

PRIMARY TASKS & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Drive cost efficiencies through the application of procurement governance and standardised processes
  • Monitor procurement spend and identify areas of unnecessary or non-compliant expenditure
  • Support financial objectives by improving procurement efficiency and reducing rework
  • Provide procurement insights and reporting to support business decision-making
  • Support audit requirements through accurate and timely provision of procurement data and documentation
  • Contribute to budget adherence through disciplined procurement practices
  • Oversee end-to-end procurement services across the region (PR to PO to payment readiness)
  • Ensure timely conversion of purchase requisitions to purchase orders within agreed timelines
  • Monitor supplier PO acknowledgements and drive expediting of critical orders
  • Enforce procurement through approved catalogues, contracts, and master data governance
  • Drive resolution of procurement and supplier queries within defined SLAs
  • Support stabilisation and continuous improvement of Coupa and SAP procurement processes
  • Identify and implement process improvements to increase efficiency and reduce manual intervention
  • Drive standardisation of procurement processes across all sites
  • Maintain high levels of procurement data accuracy and system integrity
  • Identify and mitigate procurement-related risks, including fraud and control breakdowns
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives across procurement and transactional services
  • Act as the primary interface for procurement-related queries and escalations
  • Provide clear guidance to stakeholders on procurement processes and compliance requirements
  • Resolve procurement bottlenecks impacting operational delivery
  • Maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders and suppliers
  • Support uninterrupted supply by proactively addressing delays and issues
  • Manage stakeholder expectations through clear and timely communication
  • Lead and manage the procurement services team to deliver against defined KPIs
  • Conduct regular performance check-ins and provide ongoing feedback
  • Identify skills gaps and implement training and development initiatives
  • Drive knowledge sharing and continuous learning within the team
  • Build succession and ensure adequate coverage across key functions
  • Foster accountability and ownership within the team Responsible for own development and updating of developments in field of expertise.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Degree / Diploma in Accounting/Business Science/Commercial/Finance/Supply Chain Management

WORK EXPERIENCE:

  • 7–10 years procurement experience in a large organisation
  • Minimum 3–5 years team management experience
  • Strong SAP experience (S/4HANA preferred)
  • Experience with procurement systems (Coupa advantageous)
  • Experience working across multiple sites or regions
