The Emerging Talent Lead supports the design, delivery and operational execution of structured assessment and talent identification programmes that support:

  • External recruitment of early career, specialist and leadership talent

  • Identification and evaluation of internal talent across Africa and Latin America

Working closely with the Head of Emerging Talent, the role helps ensure assessment and selection processes are structured, fair, data-driven and aligned to Glencore’s workforce planning, capability development and succession objectives.           

Primary responsibilities in this role are:

Assessment Programme Delivery:

  • Support the development and delivery of structured assessment centres and selection

  • Implement assessment methodologies applicable to:

  • Graduate and early-career recruitment

  • External leadership and specialist hiring

  • Internal promotion, succession and talent identification

  • Support the design of assessments that reflect real operational and leadership challenges within the mining environment

Internal Talent Identification & Succession:

  • Support the assessment of internal employees to evaluate potential, readiness and development needs

  • Contribute to succession planning and internal mobility discussions through assessment insights

  • Partner with HR and business leaders to identify emerging and high-potential talent pools

  • Help ensure consistency between internal and external assessment standards

Stakeholder Partnership:

  • Work closely with HR Business Partners, recruitment teams and business leaders to support hiring and talent identification initiatives

  • Assist stakeholders in understanding assessment outcomes and candidate evaluation insights

  • Support alignment of assessment approaches across regions and functions

Assessment Tools, Governance & Fairness:

  • Maintain and support assessment tools, scoring matrices and behavioural indicators

  • Help ensure consistency, fairness and governance in assessment processes

  • Support the calibration and training of assessors where required

Data, Insights & Reporting:

  • Maintain assessment data and documentation

  • Support reporting and insights that contribute to:

  • Recruitment decisions

  • Succession planning

  • Workforce and capability planning

Assist in identifying trends in talent quality, readiness and pipeline strength

Continuous Improvement:

  • Support ongoing refinement of assessment methodologies

  • Contribute to building internal capability in assessment and selection

  • Help reduce reliance on external providers over time where appropriate

  • Ensure assessment processes support diversity, equity and inclusion principles

Executive and Mining Recruitment Support:

  • Partner with recruitment teams and business leaders to evaluate candidates for critical technical, operational and leadership roles

  • Contribute to structured evaluation approaches used in executive and senior specialist recruitment processes

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant field of study (Master’s degree is a plus)

  • 8 -10+ years of experience in talent, recruitment, assessment or early careers programmes

  • Experience supporting or delivering assessment centres

  • Exposure to both external recruitment and internal talent identification processes

  • Ability to partner effectively with senior stakeholders

  • Experience working across multiple geographies is desirable

  • Exposure to the mining, resources or heavy industry sector is advantageous

  • Familiarity with psychometric and leadership assessment tools

  • Exposure to Africa and/or Latin America labour markets

Travel Requirements

Occasional travel to sites, regions and universities
