Senior Accountant

Accounting Department Tokyo, Japan

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Accountant to join our finance team in Japan. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of accounting principles, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

The position encompasses the following tasks:

  • IFRS month-end and year-end closing processes, including reconciliations, and close per commodity

  • Preparation of the statutory financial statements according to the local GAAP

  • Support accounts payable and receivable processes, ensuring timely and accurate processing of transactions

  • Support internal and external audits, providing necessary documentation and explanations

  • Assist tax monthly reporting for submission to Group Tax

  • Support local tax and other regulatory submissions

  • Assist with preparation of transfer pricing file

  • Assist in the preparation of budgets and forecasts and month on month variances analysis as required

  • Review and process employee expenses and ensure compliance with established standards and procedures.

  • Support the implementation and maintenance of global financial systems and controls.

  • Perform monthly intercompany reconciliations

  • Perform bank reconciliations

  • Collaborate with internal and external auditors during audits and ensure timely resolution of any issues.

  • Support with various accounting and finance tasks as required

Qualifications and requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field.

  • Qualified Chartered Accountant (CA or CPA) with 1-3 years of post-qualification experience, ideally in the commodities industry.

  • Knowledge of Japanese accounting standards and regulations.

  • Advanced English language ability, both written and spoken; native Japanese.

  • SAP FICO experience is preferrable

  • Advanced Excel ability
