Data and Reporting Lead

We are seeking a highly analytical and experienced Data and Reporting Lead to join our global Coupa support team. The incumbent will be responsible for managing at team comprised of: Two Value Analysts: A Governance and Data Integrity Manager; and an external Glencore Zinc team administering the Data Warehouse and providing a Report building capability.
A critical component of this role is ensuring robust data governance, implementation of appropriate controls and audit processes to guarantee data accuracy, security, and compliance with all internal requirements and external regulations (e.g. POPIA, GDPR, etc.) across the Coupa landscape.
The ideal candidate will possess strong senior stakeholder engagement and interpersonal skills as well as strong procurement, project management, technical skills, proven leadership ability and a strategic mindset to transform raw data into actionable business intelligence that drives key decisions supporting all levels of a diverse global business.
As this is a pivotal role, you will be responsible for:

Developing and overseeing the strategy, policy enforcement and delivery of all data governance, analysis and global, regional or departmental reporting functions across the Coupa landscape (Coupa and associated reporting assets).

Identifying, monitoring and reporting on specific and measurable savings and process improvement opportunities, supporting the global supply chain objective of improving procurement efficiencies, reporting and spend management.

Overseeing the design, development, and maintenance of standard dashboards, reports, and data visualizations using business intelligence tools to deliver meaningful insights that will drive process and sourcing improvements.

Responding to audit requirements as required.

Managing a team of analysts and managers responsible for governance, data integrity, report identification, specification and testing, as well as an external team responsible for data warehousing and report delivery.
Strategic leadership and planning
-
Develop, implement, and maintain a data and reporting strategy that aligns with overall business objectives and reflects the inherent risks in the landscape.
Stakeholder management
-
Collaborate with senior stakeholders, cross-functional teams, including legal and compliance, to understand data needs, gather reporting requirements, and present findings in a clear and compelling manner.

Standardise reporting across BU’s, establish and commit to realistic delivery timelines and provide periodic reporting on progress. Educate stakeholders on data-led decision-making processes and the benefit thereof.
Cross-functional collaboration

Partner with technology and operational teams to ensure seamless data flow and integration between various systems and platforms.
Team management and mentorship
-
Lead, mentor, and develop a team of compliance, data and reporting analysts/managers, fostering a culture of collaboration, excellence, and continuous improvement.

Establish a robust operating model, strong mutual governance, ensure alignment, and seamless operations with external supporting parties.
Data quality management
-
Establish and enforce data quality standards, metrics and monitoring mechanisms to ensure the accuracy, completeness, and consistency of data.
Data architecture, governance and policy enforcement

Oversee the overall Coupa data architecture ensuring that it is fit for purpose.

Design, document, and implement data governance policies, standards, and procedures, including data architecture and classification, ownership models, and lifecycle management e.g. Glencore Global Governance Standard and Coupa Power BI Metric.

Design Document. Plan and execute proactive risk assessments, regular risk review and ensure appropriate risk mitigation across the Coupa landscape.
Data security and access controls

Develop and enforce data security policies and access controls to protect sensitive information and ensure compliance with relevant data privacy regulations, such as POPIA, GDPR, HIPAA or SOX, depending on the business.
Audit readiness and compliance
-
Establish mechanisms for governance oversight, including preparing for and managing regular data quality and system control audits. This also includes coordinating and responding to inquiries from internal and external auditors, BU teams and regulators. Monitor and report compliance to key financial and procurement controls & policies across the Coupa platform on an ongoing basis.
Reporting and visualization

Oversee the compilation of business requirements, design, development, user acceptance and maintenance of standard dashboards, reports, and data visualizations using business intelligence tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI) to facilitate operations at a Strategic, Tactical and Operational level.
Data analysis, insights and platform value delivery

Lead the interpretation of complex datasets to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for operational and strategic improvements.

Establishing and reporting on key KPI’s aligned with the identification of potential new process efficiency opportunities as well as operational spend management effectiveness.

Driving the realisation of the Coupa business case based on sound and accurate analytics
Automation and process improvement
-
Identify opportunities to streamline and automate manual reporting processes to increase efficiency and reduce effort.
This position will report into the Global Value Enablement Manager.
QUALIFICATIONS
-
A bachelor's degree or equivalent in a quantitative field such as Data Science, Business Analytics, Computer Science, Statistics or Supply Chain Management.

A master's degree is a plus.
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
-
5+ years of experience in a procurement, data analysis or reporting role, with a proven track record of increasing responsibility within the mining industry.

5+ years of experience in a leadership or team management capacity
-
Experience with data visualisation tools.
-
Experience in conducting data audits and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
-
Familiarity with governance, risk, and compliance (GRC) principles.
-
Proficiency in programming languages like Python or R for advanced data analysis.
-
Proficiency in SQL for complex data querying and manipulation.
-
Experience with cloud-based data platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure).
-
Solid project management skills and the ability to manage multiple initiatives concurrently.

Experience with data governance frameworks, data quality management, and implementing data controls.

Good understanding of data warehousing and ETL processes.
-
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively communicate complex data and governance insights to both technical and non-technical as well as executive level stakeholders.

Solid leadership skills that will enable the development of a strong internal team as well as allow for the alignment and effective management of an external service provider.

Recent experience in Glencore operational Procurement and Supply Chain business processes and controls, demonstrate a clear understanding of business relationships and requirements along with a knowledge of policies, procedures and regulatory requirements within the businesses, such as the Delegation of Authority (DOA) and Procure to Pay (P2P) guidelines, UK SOX and regional data privacy requirements (POPIA, GDPR, etc.).
