The Opportunity

We are currently seeking a Shutdown and Downday Coordinator to join our Glencore Sudbury Integrated Nickel Operations.

This is a full-time, permanent, staff position.

Range of Pay: $124,000 to $139,000 plus annual variable compensation bonus

This position is being posted to fill an existing vacancy.

Work location is not accessible by public transportation.

Duties and Accountabilities: 

Reporting to the Maintenance Planning Lead, the Shutdown and Downday Coordinator is responsible for coordinating the planning and readiness activities for Smelter shutdowns and scheduled Down Day maintenance events. The role ensures that shutdown scopes are clearly defined, properly planned, and supported with the required resources, materials, and documentation to enable safe and efficient execution.

The position works closely with Maintenance, Operations, Reliability, Engineering, and Supply Chain teams to coordinate maintenance scopes, planning timelines, and readiness milestones. The incumbent supervises shutdown planning resources and ensures that planning standards, safety requirements, and work management processes are consistently applied.

Education and Skills

The role requires 5–8 years of relevant experience in maintenance planning, maintenance supervision, or shutdown planning within a heavy industrial environment, supported by a trade certification, technical diploma, or engineering degree in a related discipline. Candidates should possess experience with maintenance work management systems such as SAP, a strong understanding of maintenance planning and shutdown coordination processes, demonstrated supervisory or coordination experience with technical personnel, and strong organizational and communication skills. The successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to manage multiple priorities in a shutdown environment while maintaining a strong commitment to safe work practices and operational discipline.
