In this role you will be responsible for:

  • The incumbent will mainly be reporting to the Operations Manager with regards to the management of the A700 department with the aim to achieve set objectives concerning Production, Maintenance, Costs, HSEC and HR
  • Take accountability and responsibility for the A700 plant, budgets, people, processes, and other KPI’s as set out annually.
  • Management of the production process through the optimization of the A700 operations and associated functions to obtain production targets.
  • Long-term strategic planning and managing interaction between Maintenance, Operations and Logistical Functions
  • Take responsibility for all major hazard management plans associated in the area of responsibility and ensure subordinates are trained
  • Partake and facilitate problem solving activities by initiating, developing and or implementing alternatives or improvements to the process within the sphere of responsibility.
  • Revise standard work instructions as well as communication thereof and take the responsibility to ensure that the required training is completed in the allocated time frame.
  • Ensure compliance to sound financial management principals
  • Management of the HSEC policies, procedures and systems, environmental compliances/requirements.
  • A sound knowledge of the mine health and safety act.
  • Management of employment equity/mining charter compliance relevant to his/her production department.
  • Sound management of employee relations and development.
  • Mentoring and coaching of appointed mentees.

 

About you:

  • BEng / BSc degree / B-Tech / National Diploma in Metallurgy / Chemical / Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
  • 10 Years’ experience in heavy industry plant management / Ferro-alloy / Boilers / Metallurgical or chemicals plant
  • Knowledge and expertise in vanadium production
  • Medically Fit
  • Confident, creative, disciplined
  • Ability to maintain composure, steadfastness, and conviction when confronted with divergent viewpoints.
  • Performance/achievement driven
  • Operational problem solving and decision making
  • Strong leadership, managerial and presentation skills
  • Good interpersonal relations and organizing skills
  • Computer literacy (MS-Office, SAP and COUPA)
  • Good knowledge of HSEC systems
