McArthur River Mine (MRM) is one of the world’s largest zinc and lead operations and a key asset in Glencore’s global portfolio. Located in the Northern Territory, MRM is a large-scale FIFO open cut mining and processing operation producing zinc, lead and silver for export to global markets. As one of Glencore’s most remote Australian operations, the site integrates mining, processing and logistics in a complex, high-output environment.
The Role
Reporting to the GM Operations, you will lead the HR function at MRM and be a member of the Site Leadership Team. This is a strategic and operational leadership role, responsible for shaping and delivering the people strategy for the site in line with operational priorities.

The Role

You will:
- Lead the development and execution of the site people plan, aligned to production, cost and workforce requirements
- Provide strategic advice to the GM and leadership team on workforce, capability and organisational effectiveness
- Lead ER strategy, workforce engagement and industrial relations activity
- Drive improvements in workforce stability, capability and performance
- Embed consistent, scalable HR systems and processes aligned to the Metals Australia approach
- Partner with operational leaders to strengthen accountability, leadership capability and team effectiveness
- Contribute to broader Metals Australia HR initiatives and transformation priorities
You are a credible HR leader and trusted advisor, with the ability to operate at both strategic and operational levels.
You will bring:
- Experience in a site-based HR leadership role within mining, resources or heavy industry
- Strong capability in industrial relations
- Demonstrated ability to partner with senior operational leaders on workforce strategy
- Commercial acumen and understanding of the link between workforce outcomes and business performance
- A practical, outcomes-focused approach with the ability to translate strategy into execution
- Strong stakeholder engagement and influencing capability
- Strategic leadership role within a significant Australian operation
