Our Metals Assets in Australia include multiple & geographically dispersed operations, including underground and open pit mines, processing plants and port facilities. Additionally, Glencore’s consolidated Metals Assets have operations across Asia, both North and South American continents and Europe..

The Role

The successful candidate will become a member of a hardworking and committed team who will be accountable for the strategic leadership, governance, and performance of sourcing and contracting activities supporting Glencore Metals Australia’s capital project portfolio.

You will be responsible for:
  • Develop and oversee sourcing and contracting strategies that support capital project delivery objectives, business priorities, risk management, and value optimisation.
  • Provide commercial leadership across a portfolio of capital projects, ensuring procurement and contracting activities support the full project lifecycle, from study and investment phases through to execution and commissioning.
  • Lead high-value and complex commercial engagements, negotiations, and contracting strategies involving EPCM providers, engineering consultants, construction contractors, service providers and equipment suppliers.
  • Lead improvements in procurement, contracting, supplier management, governance, and project delivery processes. 
  • Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing capital projects procurement and contracts team while fostering a culture of safety, accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

About You

Reporting directly to the Group Procurement Manager this role would suit a detailed and process oriented person, who will be based in either Perth, Brisbane or Mt Isa, with regular travel to all GMA sties.

You will also have:
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Commerce, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Law, Construction Management, Project Management, or a related discipline. 
  • Professional accreditation in procurement, commercial management, project management, engineering, or contract management desirable (e.g. MCIPS, AICCM, PMP, RPEQ). 
  • Significant experience in capital project procurement and contracting within mining, resources, construction, infrastructure, energy, or heavy industrial environments. 
  • Demonstrated experience supporting projects across study, feasibility, execution, and commissioning phases. 
  • Demonstrated ability to balance project delivery requirements with 
  • commercial, risk, governance, and business objectives.  
  • Strong people leadership skills with experience developing high-performing commercial, contracts, or procurement teams.
  • High level of computer literacy, including ERP systems, project controls systems, Power BI, and advanced Microsoft Office applications.
