The role in a nutshell:
In this role, you act as a key partner in improving our safety and risk culture. You will work closely with managers, project leads, and HSEC & Human Rights teams to bring risk management strategies to life on the ground. Whether you're guiding a risk review, supporting compliance activities, or coaching teams in best practices, your focus is always on helping people stay safe and make informed decisions. Through periodic site visits and active engagement, you translate plans into tangible results and turn data into meaningful insights.
More specifically, you will be expected to:
- Serve as a central coordinating role, partnering with site, project, and contractor teams to support with Glencore Health and Safety (H&S) and Capital Projects guidance aligned to project scope and to collaboratively support risk mitigation.
- Provide H&S support during the contractor bid evaluation process, including reviewing and assessing:
- Contractor safety performance
- Proposed H&S organization, resources, and supervision
- Safety plans, procedures, and systems
- Demonstrated ability and capability to execute work safely
- Support the Capital projects teams in conducting risk assessments, including task based, job hazard, and project level risk reviews.
- Facilitate contractor onboarding activities, including review of H&S documentation, required site permits and participation in contractor kick-off meetings.
- Perform on-site assurance checks and site verifications, as required, during project execution to confirm compliance with H&S requirements and controls.
- Support project and site teams with incident reporting and investigations
- Primarily support smaller projects and early project phases of larger capital projects, providing advisory and practical support as required.
- Provide supplementary H&S support to larger projects in execution when needed, recognizing that these projects may have dedicated H&S or field supervision resources assigned.
- Other tasks as assigned by H&S supervisor.
Do you have what it takes?
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Health & Safety, Engineering, or a related field;
- Minimum of 7 years' experience in health and safety;
- Demonstrated ability to facilitate risk assessments using recognized methodologies;
- Ability to identify hazards and evaluate risks across various operational settings;
- Solid analytical and reporting skills, with a focus on translating data into meaningful action;
- High level of organization and attention to detail;
- Comfortable working with minimal supervision and collaboratively within multi-disciplinary teams;
- Known for a professional demeanor and effective interpersonal skills that support relationship-building;
- Up-to-date knowledge of industry best practices and methodologies in risk and safety management.
- Valid driver’s license
Travel: You will be required to travel around 10% of your time.
Language: Advanced proficiency in English (verbal and written) is mandatory. The knowledge of French is beneficial.
Location: Corporate office in Toronto 5 days a week.

The expected base salary for this position is 95 000$ to 125 000$, based on competencies, skills, and qualifications and aligned with internal equity. The incumbent will also be eligible to participate in a variable compensation plan (bonus) (note: payment of variable compensation is subject to the terms and conditions of the variable compensation plan and is not guaranteed).
