The role in a nutshell:
In this role, you act as a key partner in risk assessment, assurance and stakeholder management. You will work closely with leaders, managers and HSEC teams to translate risk-management strategies into practical action. Whether you’re tracking commitments, obligations and legislative updates or supporting the planning, execution and review of risk assessments, your focus is always on helping people stay safe and make informed decisions.
More specifically, you will be expected to:
- Coordinates the maintenance of all data related to HSEC Risk and Assurance for SPG (Special Projects Group). Provide analysis, insights, and trend identification to support risk management and performance improvement;
- Assists in 2nd line assurance across SPG to evaluate system effectiveness and asset implementation;
- Develops and maintains HSEC management plans and frameworks where applicable to the whole SPG Group.
- Tracks commitments, obligations and legislative updates for SPG in the HSEC area. Identifies, tracks, and works to incorporate legislative updates.
- Closely monitors assurance findings and action items for SPG, and prepares clear, timely information to support the manager in driving action closure.
- Track SPG HSEC Strategy KPIs to ensure progress is monitored, gaps are addressed, and actions are escalated where needed.
- Assist with the development of a Training Needs Analysis covering HSEC Legislation and Group requirement so it is consistent across the portfolio. Validates through desk top audits periodically.
- Undertakes project work where required related to any area of HSEC
- Provide support in the planning, execution, and review of risk assessments.
- Build and maintain strong stakeholder relationships across SPG customers to ensure alignment, clear communication and successful delivery.
Do you have what it takes?
- Technical diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering or related field preferred.
- Minimum 5 years’ HSEC or operations experience.
- Experience in mining or operations preferred.
- Outstanding communicator who adapts their style to each client, shares information with clarity and ease, and delivers messages efficiently and concisely.
- Experience supporting risk assessments and managing stakeholder relationships.
- Adaptive leader who can accommodate diverse customers needs and adjust their approach to changing situations.
- Highly organized and solutions-oriented.
- Problem-solving abilities to address challenges and find innovative solutions.
Travel: You will be required to travel up to 15% of the time and work with colleagues located in different time zones on a regular basis.
Language: Advanced proficiency in English (verbal and written) is mandatory.
Location: Corporate office in Toronto 5 days a week

The expected base salary for this position is 98 000$ to 145 000$, based on competencies, skills, and qualifications and aligned with internal equity. The incumbent will also be eligible to participate in a variable compensation plan (bonus) (note: payment of variable compensation is subject to the terms and conditions of the variable compensation plan and is not guaranteed).
