The Opportunity

We are currently seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join our Glencore Sudbury Integrated Nickel Operations in Greater Sudbury, Ontario.

The position will be based in Greater Sudbury (Falconbridge), Ontario.

This is a 2-year contract staff position.

Work location is not accessible by public transportation.

Duties and Accountabilities: 

Reporting to the Mechanical Engineering Lead, the Mechanical Engineer is responsible for the development and approval of engineering documents, project management for new and existing processes and systems, troubleshooting and maintenance support. The Mechanical Engineer will have responsibility for areas which include material handling, pumping, ventilation systems and structures. Experience in procurement, contract and construction management.

Education and Skills

The ideal candidate for this position has project management, design, and construction experience and is eligible or registered with the Professional Engineers of Ontario. The incumbent will promote a constructive climate in the workplace by ensuring excellence in health and safety, quality control, and customer satisfaction. A background in mining or a heavy industrial setting with at least 4 years of experience would make you the ideal candidate.

Applicants have effective interpersonal communication skills and are highly motivated. Applicants should also have flexibility with respect to working in a team environment with operations, engineering and on projects at various locations.
