United Wambo Joint Venture (UWJV) is an open-cut coal mine located 16 kilometres west of Singleton in the Hunter Valley of New South Wales. UWJV is a 50:50 joint venture between United Collieries (Glencore and MEU) and Wambo Coal (Peabody).
The Opportunity
United Wambo Joint Venture are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Environment & Community Officer to support our operation. Reporting to the Environment & Community Manager, this role supports the delivery of environmental and community programs to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, environmental approvals, and site-specific obligations.
The successful candidate will assist in the implementation of environmental monitoring programs, support community engagement activities, and contribute to the delivery of site environmental management plans. You will be involved in data collection and reporting, stakeholder engagement, and providing support for regulatory inspections and audits.
This position is suited to a proactive and adaptable individual with strong communication skills and a practical approach to environmental and community responsibilities. You will have the opportunity to work collaboratively across departments and with external stakeholders, including regulators and community representatives, while developing your technical skills and gaining exposure to best-practice environmental management.
To be successful in this role, you will have:

Tertiary qualification in environmental science or engineering;

Relevant experience in a similar role within the resources sector;

Working knowledge of mining approvals legislation and processes;

Excellent communication, interpersonal and relationship building skills;
-
Superb analysing, auditing and report writing skills;
-
Strong project and contractor management skills, and experience in community relations;
-
Strong systems focus and strategic approach to delivering positive outcomes;
-
Experience in delivering training and awareness programs to employees on environmental and community matters;

Excellent time management, presentation, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills; and
-
Proficiency to ArcGIS highly desirable.

United Wambo Joint Venture is located in Warkworth, approximately 20 kilometres west of Singleton in the NSW Hunter Valley. This is a residential based role on a Monday to Friday (5 / 2) roster.
