Job Description

Reporting to the Training Coordinator, you will play an integral role in the delivery, development, and continuous improvement of training and competency programs across site. You will work closely with leaders and employees to build workforce capability, drive compliance, and contribute to a strong learning and safety culture at HVO.

About the Role

The Training Officer delivers and supports training and competency programs across site, ensuring compliance with industry standards, site requirements, and safety expectations.

  • Positively contribute to a collaborative Health, Safety and Training team environment.

  • Facilitate and deliver training programs in accordance with site standards, procedures, and safety systems.

  • Maintain and support accurate training records and documentation within the site's learning management systems.

  • Review and update training materials, assessments, and learning resources to ensure ongoing validity, compliance, and currency.

  • Monitor training compliance through reporting systems and proactively identify and coordinate training requirements.

  • Work closely with the Training Coordinator, Superintendents, Supervisors, and operational stakeholders to develop and implement training and compliance plans.

  • Support workforce capability development through coaching, mentoring, and engagement with employees and leaders across the business.

  • Assist with the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of training systems, processes, and learning programs.

Roster and Location

  • Monday to Friday professional roster

  • Based on site at HVO (off Lemington Road)

About You

  • Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE).

  • Demonstrated experience in a Training Officer, Trainer and Assessor, or similar role within an industrial, mining, or heavy industry environment.

  • A strong understanding of the importance of quality training systems, learning materials, and competency-based training programs.

  • A commitment to continuous improvement and a desire to enhance training outcomes for both individuals and the business.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships, influence outcomes, and manage stakeholder expectations.

  • The ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a high-performing team.

  • Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.

  • A proactive approach to problem-solving and the confidence to identify opportunities for improvement.

  • High levels of computer literacy and experience using learning management systems, training databases, and Microsoft Office applications.

  • A demonstrated commitment to safety, teamwork, and fostering a positive workplace culture.

  • Previous experience developing, reviewing, or improving training materials, assessments, and learning resources will be highly regarded.

  • Experience within the mining industry and exposure to competency management systems will be advantageous.

  • A positive, can-do attitude and alignment with HVO's values.
