Job Description

Generalist Human Resources Support:

  • Provide high-level day-to-day Business Partnering HR support, coaching, and guidance to leaders and employees across the site, ensuring consistent and fair application of HR policies and procedures to the relevant assigned portfolio.
  • Maintain a strong knowledge of the site’s Enterprise Agreement, company HR policies, and relevant employment legislation to ensure consistent interpretation and application.
  • High level contributor to the successful delivery of HR services by upholding company values and supporting business goals, while building trusted relationships with operational leaders.
  • Support the preparation and delivery of key HR reports and workforce metrics for site and corporate stakeholders, including data on manning, absenteeism, turnover, and recruitment activity.
  • Ensure accurate and up-to-date maintenance of personnel files and payroll documentation, maintaining high levels of data integrity within HR systems and records.
  • Assist in the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of HR initiatives, programs, and reporting frameworks that contribute to workforce effectiveness.
  • Maintain a strong on-site presence by participating in pre-shift meetings, toolbox talks, department briefings, and engagement meetings to ensure visibility and accessibility to the workforce.
  • Respond to general HR enquiries, providing clear, timely, and accurate advice and support on matters related to employment conditions, entitlements, policies, and procedures.
  • Contribute to HR-related reporting, system updates, and documentation, ensuring timely and accurate delivery to meet business needs.
  • Provide support for HR projects and initiatives as directed by the HR Manager or site leadership.

Recruitment and Onboarding:

  • Draft and publish high-quality job advertisements that reflect role requirements and comply with Glencore branding standards and recruitment protocols.
  • Provide end-to-end recruitment support for Staff and EA employees, including advertising, screening, shortlisting, interview coordination, reference checking, and offer preparation.
  • Ensure seamless onboarding of new employees by coordinating pre-employment requirements, induction processes, and ensuring new starters are integrated smoothly into their roles and teams.
  • Assist manage and support early career programs at site, including coordination of apprentices, vacation students, First Nations Pathways Programs and graduate placements—ensuring program integrity.
  • Support end-to-end employee lifecycle processes, including recruitment, onboarding, probation reviews, job changes and offboarding.

Employee Relations and Industrial Relations:

  • Assist with the coordination and documentation of disciplinary processes, employee investigations, and performance management conversations, ensuring procedural fairness and compliance with workplace legislation to a high standard.
  • Provide practical advice, support, and coaching to leaders on employee relations matters, including performance management, disciplinary actions, conflict resolution, employee grievances and other facets of Human Resources.
  • Work with the HR Manager to provide administration on key projects focussed on the engagement and retention of employees, including the implementation of performance reviews and development plans, policy awareness and retention strategies.
  • Assist in reviewing and updating Policies, Procedures and Guidelines to ensure they align with Glencore company standards, legislative requirements and remain relevant.
  • Conduct exit interviews with departing employees where required, identifying trends and opportunities for workforce improvement.
  • Assist in ensuring all Hail Creek policies and procedures are legally compliant and align to GCAA.
  • Assist mediate conflicts between employees and management, driving resolution through professional negotiation/mediation.
  • Assist coach managers and leaders in managing employee performance, sensitive conversations, and behaviour-related challenges.
  • Coordinate and assess flexible work arrangement requests, ensuring alignment with legislative obligations and operational requirements.

Payroll Processing:

  • Liaise with payroll to resolve employee pay queries, including leave, allowances, and deductions, ensuring prompt and accurate resolution.
  • Assist administer employee movements such as roster changes, transfers, secondments, promotions, and terminations, ensuring accurate processing of associated payroll documentation and system updates.
  • Ensure that changes to employment conditions and entitlements are correctly captured and communicated for payroll processing.
  • Audit employee records and pay data regularly to ensure alignment between HR systems and payroll outputs.
  • Support reconciliation of leave balances and entitlements to ensure data integrity and compliance with enterprise agreements and policies.
  • Maintain confidentiality of payroll information and handle sensitive employee data in line with privacy and data security requirements.
  • Complete end of month payroll auditing process tasks including G2G to a high standard.

Leadership

  • Assist coach and mentor HR team members, fostering a culture of Leader-led engagement and ownership.
  • Champion team development by identifying individual strengths and growth opportunities, tailoring coaching approaches to maximise each team member’s potential.
  • Lead by example through demonstrating strong work ethics, integrity, and a commitment to organisational values, inspiring others to follow suit.
  • Drive innovation in HR practices by encouraging team members to share ideas, experiment with new approaches under direction from the Senior HR Coordinator and continuously improve processes.
  • Recognise and celebrate successes within the team to boost morale, motivation, and a sense of shared accomplishment.
  • Act as a mediator to resolve conflicts within the HR team, facilitating open communication and fostering a collaborative, respectful work environment.

Learning & Development

  • Assist in delivering training and mentoring programs on employee relations best practices and industrial compliance as directed by the HR Manager.

* Undertake other duties as reasonably required to support the safe, effective, and efficient delivery of human resource services across site at the direction of the HR Manager.
