Clermont Open Cut, a Glencore Operation, is currently seeking an experienced Technical Services Superintendent (Mine Planning) to join and support our team of technical professionals on site. Located on the western edge of the Bowen Basin, Clermont Open Cut is a high performing truck & shovel operation that produces 12 million tonnes of coal per annum. Clermont Open Cut Operation is a safe and inclusive workplace focused on delivering high performance outcomes. Reporting to the Technical Services Manager, this role will offer variety and opportunity to the right individual.

In this role your core responsibilities will be:

• Driving a safety focused workplace through visible leadership

• Proactively leading and inspiring a team of mining engineers responsible for the mid- and long-term planning horizon

• Leading the team to drive continuous improvement of the operation by identifying and evaluating opportunities for change and innovation in Mine Planning and Medium Term Mine Plan

• Effectively engage the mining team to ensure the mine plan is achieved

• Reconciling performance against plans and implementing remedial actions where required

• Providing guidance and support to the mine planning team in addition to Graduates and Vacation students throughout the year

Requirements for the role include:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Mining Engineering or Civil Engineering

• Extensive Open Cut mining experience with demonstrated leadership capabilities

• S123 & G2 qualifications (desirable)

• Demonstrated experience in leading a team to deliver high performance outcomes safely

• Contractor Management experience

• Strong communication skills

• A proven ability to lead and influence a team and make decisions based on your technical expertise

• Experience with Deswik and Spry software packages will be highly regarded

• Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills

• QLD Drivers Licence

This role requires a safety conscious candidate prepared to challenge the norm, drive continuous improvement and who can demonstrate experience in implementing best practise using a hands-on approach.
