About the Role

As a key member of the Glencore Coal Assets Australia (GCAA) Group Procurement team, the Procurement Specialist is responsible for managing the end-to-end procurement life cycle, maximising value for GCAA's 13x operational Coal mines across New South Wales and Queensland.

Reporting to the Procurement Manager, the Procurement Specialist will focus on the categories of Labour (Trades) and Services.

Key tasks include:

  • Analyse spend data and market intelligence to develop appropriate sourcing strategies.

  • Perform tendering exercises of initiatives, including negotiation, contract drafting and contract implementation.

  • Implement appropriate supplier relationship management processes to drive value from contracts.

  • Develop and maintain harmonious relationships with relevant functional departments, site stakeholders and key personnel.

  • Maintain knowledge of and comply with all applicable Policies, Guidelines, Laws, Regulations and Statutory Obligations.

About You

  • Strong interpersonal skills with an ability to interface with various internal and external stakeholders, including management.

  • Exceptional communication skills (written and oral), able to influence decision-making using evidence-based recommendations.

  • Demonstrated ability to plan, execute, and manage work program independently with discipline.

  • High motivation to meet deadlines while working with various stakeholders.

  • Ability to produce high quality deliverables that can support conclusions reached with facts and withstand scrutiny.

  • Sharp analytical and problem-solving capability with strong attention to detail.

  • Team player, experienced in working collaboratively and in an agile manner.

Knowledge and Experience

  • Demonstrated experience in procurement and contract negotiations - Mining and resources sector preferred.

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in business, commerce, legal or related engineering field. CIPS recognition highly desirable.

  • High Proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite of applications.

  • Experience with Contract Management systems and SAP (or similar ERP systems).
