Rolleston Open Cut is a 16Mtpa thermal coal mine located in the southern Bowen Basin in Central Queensland.  With a long life of mine and low operating costs, the mine has a bright outlook.  Since 2005, we have grown to become one of the largest surface mines in Australia, whilst continuing to foster a culture underpinned by safety, achievement, flexibility and teamwork to improve the skills of each and every person on the mine site every day.  We are a hands-on team who all work together to meet our objectives.  No job or day is the same with us, and we never miss an opportunity to share, learn and improve.

About the Role

An exciting opportunity has become available for an experienced Mining Superintendent to join our dynamic and successful team.  As a valued member of the Production team and reporting directly to the Mine Manager, you will be responsible for:

• Coordinating resources to deliver safe and efficient production targets by optimising and implementing mine plans

• Providing strong and consistent leadership and direction to your teams and be able to clearly communicate and articulate expectations

• Promoting continuous improvement by challenging work practices and encouraging employee participation in new concepts.

• Developing and mentoring co-workers to get the best out of them

• Maintaining a high level of positive safety performance and workplace culture through teamwork, personal commitment, and application of company values

• Providing technical guidance

• Liaise with key personnel and share ideas for overall improvement outcomes

• Identify, assess and control workplace hazards

About you 

To be successful in this role, you will have:

• A minimum 7 years’ experience in the industry across multiple mining methods including drill and blast

• Contract management experience

• Strong interpersonal, communication and leadership skills.

• Have an extremely high drive to learn and grow your skills to be the best version of yourself.

• Excellent safety mindset with the ability to positively influence the culture at Rolleston

• Driving consistent and fair accountability in line with Rolleston’s SHMS.

• Proven problem-solving skills and the ability to thrive in a team environment

• Relevant experience with SAP or similar maintenance management systems.
