Bulga Open Cut is a long established and consistently performing open cut coal operation located near Singleton in the NSW Hunter Valley, with extensive mine approvals extending until 2039. We currently have an exciting opportunity for experienced Shotfirer interested in working our 4-day per week roster (Monday -Thursday, Tuesday – Friday). By joining our high-performing team, you'll play a crucial role in delivery safe and efficient blast outcomes. The role:

Reporting to the Blast Supervisor, you will be a key member of the blast crew, ensuring the safe and efficient execution of blast operations. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Managing explosive stock: Ensuring proper inventory control and safe storage of explosives in accordance with industry and regulatory standards.
  • Blast pattern loading and firing: Ensuring the accurate loading, tying, and firing of blasts while adhering to drill and blast designs to meet operational targets.
  • Safety and compliance: Conducting pre-blast inspections, ensuring the blasting area is clear of personnel and equipment, and following all safety regulations and environmental guidelines.
  • Record-keeping and documentation: Maintaining accurate and timely records in line with site procedures and legislative requirements to support compliance and operational audits.
  • Team collaboration: Working closely with your team and stakeholders to deliver high-quality blast outcomes and maintain operational excellence.

About you:

  • Relevant experience in the mining industry and in similar role.
  • Blasting Explosives User’s License and an Unsupervised Handler’s License
  • Experience with handling explosives
  • Flexible can-do attitude and strong work ethic.
  • Strong team player with a high regard for safety.
  • Developed understanding of risk management and safe work procedures.
