Reporting to the Senior Mine Accountant, an opportunity exists for a proactive and organised Mine Accountant to join the Oaky Creek Coal Commercial team. As a member of the Commercial team, you will be crucial to Oaky Creek Coal’s operational success, financial performance and corporate governance.

In this role, you will be responsible for:

  • Recording financial transactions accurately and in accordance with company policies, accounting standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Producing regular performance, cost and capital reports to provide management with actionable insights for making effective business decisions and monitoring and controlling expenditure.
  • Managing banking transactions, including payments, deposits and transfers, and reconciling balances to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Supporting commercial functions, including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and Payroll functions.
  • Preparing statutory, insurance, tax and other regulatory financial returns as required.
  • Month-end reporting, including journal entries, reconciliations and financial summaries.
  • Budgeting and forecasting activities, including developing, monitoring and updating budgets and forecasts on a regular basis.
  • Statutory financial reporting, including preparation of financial statements and liaising with auditors.
  • Providing financial information and collaborative support to the Finance team, Operations, and other stakeholders.

To be effective in this role, you must be able to build and maintain positive relationships and communicate effectively with a range of internal and external stakeholders.  As a problem solver, you will seek continuous improvement, have a proactive approach to your work and have excellent attention to detail.  You will have advanced Excel skills and a demonstrated ability to work under pressure with competing priorities.

As the successful candidate, you will hold a tertiary qualification in Accounting or other related discipline and have 2-3 years’ of relevant experience. You will have strong commercial acumen, be results-driven and demonstrate a proven track record of improving systems while maintaining a safe working environment.

This is a Monday to Friday or 9-day fortnight rostered position.
