Collinsville Open Cut is located approximately 160km from Airlie Beach in Queensland, the gateway to the Whitsunday Islands and the Great Barrier Reef. Producing both metallurgical and thermal coal for the export market, the surface mine has a long operational life and is currently investing in significant upgrades to the Coal Handling and Preparation Plant (CHPP).
Reporting to the CHPP Operations Superintendent, you will optimise plant performance across both volume and product quality, ensuring safe and efficient coal processing to meet required specifications. This role is critical to improving recovery, driving cost efficiencies, and maintaining the highest standards of safety and compliance.
About The Role:
As CHPP Process Engineer, you will:

Drive performance improvement across coal processing operations

Manage laboratory processes, standards and reporting accuracy
-
Promote a positive safety culture and transparent communication environment
-
Identify innovation opportunities and implement step-change improvements
-
Analyse plant data and implement process solutions to maximise efficiency
-
Reduce unit cost per tonne through continuous improvement strategies
-
Monitor and optimise CHPP throughput, yield and metallurgical recovery
-
Track and report on key KPIs including yield, recovery, ash, moisture and product quality
-
Evaluate new technologies and automation opportunities to enhance performance

Mentor graduate engineers
About You:
-
Minimum 2 years’ experience in a similar role.

Relevant tertiary qualifications in Chemical/Process/Metallurgical Engineering

Experience developing and managing mass balances, plant models, and metallurgical accounting
-
Strong understanding of coal processing circuits, floatation, dense medium separation and plant optimisation
-
Demonstrated ability to analyse data and drive measurable performance improvements
-
Commitment to safety, operational excellence and continuous improvement
-
Strong interpersonal, communication and leadership skills.

Ability to work both autonomously and within a team environment.

Ability to liaise with key internal and external stakeholders.

SAP proficient
