Job Description

We are now seeking a confident, enthusiastic Safety Officer who shares our values of Think Sharp, Dig In and Care to join our high-performing team. Reporting to the Safety Coordinator, you will provide technical safety expertise and support the implementation and delivery of continuous safety improvement initiatives across site.

About the Role

  • Work closely with operational leaders to provide technical safety advice and drive improved safety performance across HVO

  • Promote a proactive safety culture by engaging with site personnel, encouraging safety awareness and supporting safety initiatives

  • Provide coaching and guidance on site-based safety procedures and systems

  • Participate in incident investigations and Promote a proactive safety culture by engaging with site personnel, encouraging safety awareness and supporting safety initiatives

  • Participate in the risk management processes across HVO

  • Analyse safety data, identify trends and prepare department specific safety performance reports

  • Conduct and support site assurance and verification activities

Roster and Location

  • Monday to Friday professional roster

  • Site-based at HVO (off Lemington Road)

About You

  • Qualifications in Work, Health and Safety;

  • Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills

  • High emotional intelligence and the ability to build effective working relationships

  • Strong computer literacy

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities

  • The ability to work both independently and as part of a team

  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage fluctuating workloads, projects and conflicting priorities to achieve competing deadlines

  • A genuine passion for safety and delivering results

  • A positive, authentic approach with the ability to influence and inspire others
