An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced IT Systems Engineer to join the team, performing common work across our Queensland Coal operations as well as assisting in project work.  Reporting to the QLD IT Team Leader, you will be responsible for providing a high level of technical support and expert advice across a range of standard software products and installed infrastructure.

You will apply your technical expertise and a strong methodical approach to resolve system issues and achieve maximum uptime.  You will work with the IT&S team to manage third party service providers, vendors and business users to deliver effective and efficient IT&S services, and at times may act as the technical lead for site-based IT projects.   You will actively support the IT&S team who has carriage over an onsite IT&S budget and allocation of IT&S resources.

Your industry qualifications (CCNA/MCSA/MCSE) are desirable but not essential, and/or considerable experience in a similar role, coupled with your ability to multi-task and problem solve ensure you are a good fit for this role.  You will have a sound knowledge of Microsoft client and server technologies, virtualisation, Active Directory Administration, TCP/IP, routing protocols and general networking fundamentals. Knowledge of PABX systems, PC hardware, fibre optic and copper cabling and wireless technologies is also desirable.

The majority of work involved in this role will require travel across all of our Central Queensland operations where work will be performed on a Monday – Friday roster, with on call and after-hours commitments as required.  The role will also include leave coverage for site-based IT engineers from time to time.  Based on the successful incumbent’s preference, the home-base for this role may be Emerald, Tieri, Mackay, Brisbane, or surrounding regions.
