The Role:

We are looking for a motivated and experienced Safety Coordinator to join our Health, Safety and Training team on a 12-month fixed term contract. Reporting to the Health, Safety and Training Manager, you will be primarily responsible for:

  • Provide technical support and advice on the Safety Management System (SMS) to all departments, ensuring safety procedures and critical controls are understood and applied.

  • Develop and implement Health and Safety systems and procedures in line with legal and GCAA requirements, supporting continuous improvement.

  • Assist with the development, maintenance and testing of Emergency Response and Crisis Management Plans, including coordination of emergency exercises.

  • Manage incident and near-miss processes, including reporting, notifications, investigation involvement, documentation and monitoring of corrective actions for events rated moderate and above.

  • Coordinate risk management activities, including facilitating operational risk assessments, supporting process change reviews and assisting teams to identify hazards and verify control effectiveness.

About you:

  • Hold a Tertiary qualification in Work, Health and Safety

  • Thorough understanding of NSW Legislation relevant to work, Health and Safety and ability to interpret legislation, regulations together with policy and procedure;

  • Previous experience in mining or similar environments

  • Extensive knowledge of Safety Management Systems

  • Strong interpersonal skills to build and maintain positive relationships
