About the Role

An exciting opportunity has become available for an experienced Tyre Fitter to join our dynamic and successful team.  As a valued member of the Maintenance team and reporting directly to the Tyre and Rim Supervisor and HME workshop Supervisor you will be responsible for:

  • Remove and fit rims and wheel assemblies on heavy earthmoving mining equipment

  • Remove and refit, agricultural and Heavy Vehicle wheel assemblies

  • Conduct Tyre inspections, actively report and assess Haul Road conditions

  • Maintain tooling for tyre fitting, with daily inspections and minor maintenance and repairs

  • Initiate actions to prevent the occurrence of equipment non-conformance.

  • Identify and record equipment quality problems and provide solutions

  • Supporting and developing the successful operations process

  • Liaising with internal and external stakeholders

  • Participating in key projects and operational trade improvements.

  • Participate in risk assessments related to tyre fitting, and complete Job Safety Assessments

  • Requirement to follow specific site procedures for tyre fitting tasks

  • Working 7/7 Day and Night roster

About you 

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Previous experience in a similar role, preferably in an open-cut coal mine

  • Ability to work effectively with a multifaceted team of contractors and site personnel.

  • Excellent interpersonal, cooperative, and facilitation skills when interacting with various levels of

  • Excellent safety mindset with the ability to positively influence the culture at Rolleston

  • Proven problem-solving skills and the ability to thrive in a team environment

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Relevant experience with SAP or similar maintenance management systems.

  • Experience with Tyre management systems, and Tyre pressure monitoring systems is an advantage

  • Understanding of tyre fitting procedures and safety standards

  • Have knowledge of Recognised Standard 13

  • Have Knowledge of Coal Mining Act, specifically section 39. “Obligations of persons generally”
