Mt Owen/Glendell Operations (MGO) is an open cut mining operation which utilises truck and excavator mining methods to produce thermal and semi-soft coking coal, which is predominantly exported for domestic power generation and use in steel production. We are located within the Hunter Coalfields at Hebden in the Upper Hunter Valley of New South Wales.

 

An opportunity exists for an experienced and committed Support Mechanical Engineer at MGO. Reporting to the Statutory Mechanical Engineer, this position is Monday to Friday, dayshift only, and will drive mechanical engineering performance and safety standards across site. 

 

As the Support Mechanical Engineer, you will be responsible for providing advice and support across the business, actively investigating enhancements and improvement opportunities, developing the understanding of others to support and implement engineering improvements and maintain a practical knowledge of the work environment to which engineering support is provided.

 

The requirements for success in this role include:

  • Qualification (or working toward) in a mechanical engineering discipline of study or similar.

  • Motivation in obtaining statutory mechanical engineering certificate of competence.

  • Open Cut Coal Mining experience.

  • Superior communication, interpersonal, and communication skills.

  • Heavy mobile equipment and/or fixed plant experience.

  • Thorough understanding of NSW Statutory Obligations.

  • SAP Maintenance Management System experience (desirable).

  • Highly organised and solutions focused.

  • Time management skills, ability to meet deadlines and plan ahead.
