Job DescriptionJoining our high-performing Commercial Team means you’ll provide vital support across contracts, procurement and stakeholder engagement. As a Contracts Officer, you’ll deliver end-to-end contracts administration, from tendering and negotiation to active contract management — all aligned with our Procurement Operating Framework. You will ensure rigorous compliance, support our internal stakeholders, and help us drive cost efficiencies, increased earnings and return on capital.
A Day in the life of a Contracts Officer:
- Administer contracts and uphold compliance with our Procurement Operating Framework.
- Tender, negotiate and manage supply agreements to deliver value and mitigate risk.
- Ensure contract documentation is authorised, formatted correctly and protects the organisation’s interests.
- Provide advice and support on contract-lifecycle issues (variations, breaches, terminations).
- Maintain accurate contract records and monitor supplier and contract performance.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, providing effective communication.
- Identify opportunities for continuous improvement within contract and procurement processes.
- Support internal stakeholders and contract-holders with training, guidance and implementation.
What we are looking for:
- Year 12 Certificate plus a Certificate III or IV (or CIPS Levels 4 & 5)
- Previous experience in a similar role is desirable
- Ability to work away from home during the week. This role requires staying in our on-site accommodation village and being based full-time at the operation.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with strong interpersonal capability
- Self-motivated, driven, acting with integrity and respecting diversity
- Strong business judgement, planning & organising skills, and ability to set priorities
- Ability to work under pressure, manage ambiguity and handle competing priorities (including outside normal business hours if required)
- Proficient computer skills (MS Word & Excel); competency in SAP and PowerBI
- Experience preparing Expressions of Interest / Requests for Tenders and contract documentation
- Sound knowledge of contract and procurement procedures, systems, negotiation, risk-management and stakeholder relationship management.
