Mt Owen/Glendell Operations (MGO) is an open cut mining operation which utilises truck and excavator mining methods to produce thermal and semi-soft coking coal, which is predominantly exported for domestic power generation and use in steel production. We are located within the Hunter Coalfields at Hebden in the Upper Hunter Valley of New South Wales.
An opportunity exists for a motivated and dynamic Support Electrical Engineer ready for their next career step. Reporting to the Statutory Electrical Engineer, you will be well supported to deliver results and showcase your electrical engineering expertise and project management skills.
This position requires multitasking and the following of all policies and procedures implemented and maintained in accordance with the Glencore Management Framework.
The requirements for success in this role:

Driving electrical engineering performance and safety standards across site

Assisting in the delivery of effective electrical maintenance strategies and projects

Supervision and coordination of site electrical trades and engineering personnel when overseeing key electrical projects

Ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, codes, and standards
-
Maintaining an energetic and enthusiastic approach to motivate the team to achieve above expectations

Innovative problem solving to combat complex electrical tasks and projects across MGO
About You
The right person for this position will be proactive and motivated towards gaining a practical knowledge of the work environment to which engineering support is provided.
The required skills include:

Qualification in an electrical engineering discipline of study or similar and motivated to obtain statutory electrical engineering certificate of competence

Demonstrated project management, heavy mobile equipment, and infrastructure experience

Open Cut Coal Mining experience and exposure to CHPP electrical processes

Knowledge and understanding of mining HV and LV power systems and Open Cut network communication systems

Strong communication skills with the ability to develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders

Highly organised and solutions focused
-
Time management skills, ability to meet deadlines and plan ahead

Exposure to Operational Technology (desirable)

SAP Maintenance Management System experience (desirable)
