Job DescriptionThe primary purpose of the QLD Safety and Emergency Manager to provide strategic oversight and leadership in the development and implementation of safety and emergency management systems across our Queensland operations. This role plays a pivotal part in ensuring the readiness, compliance, and resilience of our organisation in the face of safety challenges and emergency events.
About the Role
In this influential leadership role, you will:
- Provide strategic leadership in the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of safety and emergency management frameworks.
- Oversee the development and execution of site and corporate emergency response plans, ensuring alignment with regulations and best practice.
- Partner with operational leaders to embed a proactive safety culture and ensure consistent application of critical risk controls.
- Monitor safety performance through audits, inspections, and incident investigations, driving continuous improvement.
- Lead the design and rollout of safety and emergency training programs to build workforce capability.
- Manage safety systems, reporting tools, and provide actionable insights to senior leadership.
- Build strong internal and external partnerships, including with regulators and emergency services.
- Mentor and develop safety professionals across the business.
About You
You will bring:
- Demonstrated experience in a senior safety leadership role, preferably within mining, heavy industry or high-risk sectors.
- Expertise in emergency management, safety systems, and risk control frameworks.
- Proven ability to lead large-scale initiatives and manage change.
- Strong relationship-building skills and the ability to influence senior leaders and external stakeholders.
- High standards of integrity, resilience, and commitment to visible safety leadership.
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in Health & Safety, Emergency Management, or a related discipline.
