This role which reports to the Electrical Superintendent, will offer variety and opportunity to the right individual who will support Operational Technology at USO by championing our systems and networks, to keep them working for the operation. This role requires a safety conscious candidate prepared to challenge the norm, drive continuous improvement and who can demonstrate experience in implementing best practice using a hands-on approach.

In this role, responsibilities include:

• Providing advice and support across the operation relevant to your professional area.
• Actively investigating enhancements to standards, procedures, and processes in areas of expertise that achieves improvements in safety, reliability, performance, job satisfaction and productivity.
• Maintaining knowledge of best practice within field of expertise, share interesting and useful information across the business, as appropriate.
• Developing the understanding of others to support and implement engineering improvements and maintain a practical knowledge of the work environment to which engineering support is provided.
• Developing and maintaining positive working relationships with external stakeholders.

• Developing and implement improvement initiatives including projects providing reliable operation of assets.

• Direct and complete engineering processes that are compliant with relevant legislation.
• Creating and maintaining budgets.
• Assisting the operational departments where required.
• Maintain a high level of positive safety performance and workplace culture through teamwork, personal commitment, and application of the company values.

About you:

• Qualifications in an electrical, control, software, systems, information technology or communication discipline.
• Experience in mining management maintenance systems, policies and procedures.
• Strong technical and commercial understanding in the coal industry.
• Experience in industrial ethernet, fibre, wireless (802.11), and Wireless Mesh type communication networks.
• Experience in IT networks; including server/SAN infrastructure and cyber security practices.
• Experience in ESX vSphere clustered virtual environment (Build and maintain virtual servers).
• Experience in maintaining IT user security, accounts, software and updates.
• Experience with mining fleet management systems and operational technologies (i.e. Wenco , Digital Two-Way Systems).
• Experience in database management (i.e. SQL).
• Experience in windows domain controllers and server operating systems.
• Experience in direct supervision/people management of personnel in a frontline role.
• Good interpersonal and teamwork skills as well as being self-motivated.

About Ulan Surface Operations

Ulan Surface Operations is part of the Ulan Complex and supports two highly productive Underground Mines, Ulan West and Ulan Underground.  Ulan Surface Operations coordinates approximately 11 million tonnes of saleable per annum and employs 110 people of the approximate 700 at the Ulan Complex.
