Key Responsibilities

Providing supervision in accordance with the Surveying and Spatial Information Act
-
Providing survey controls for development roadway alignment and grade control as required, by:
-
Installing and extending advancement sights
-
Marking cut through centres
-
Recording cut through positioning
-
Recording 2D surveys of as built rib line;
-

To provide survey control for longwall installation including:
-
Maingate drive location
-
Panline set out, crusher, and boot end locations
-
Support shield placements
-
Chainage markers;
-
-
Record development and Longwall production on a daily, weekly and monthly basis and provide volume reports showing both coal and dilution;
-
Maintain accurate mine plans showing the extent of all underground workings by daily updates based on the above measures, and submit as required by the CMHSA (NSW);
-
Drafting plans and distribute as requested for underground installations, zones etc. - e.g. fire management, ventilation and gas monitoring, emergency equipment;

Measure as builts for drivehead design, and supply survey control for modifications where necessary and development drivehead/ conveyor positioning;

Maintain survey control and topographic databases, borehole set outs and pickups, subsidence surveys and surface survey requirements;

Maintain the survey equipment in good operating condition;
-
Make certain that accurate drafting reflects the required design in areas such as mine plans, support plans, and sequence plans;

Provide appropriate training, professional development and coaching to strengthen the competency of reports and improve the output of the survey section. Contribute to the supervision and training of direct supports to assist them with attaining Mine Surveyor Registration;

Statutory compliance is to be maintained for the underground mining environment statutory work completed is to be traceable in the appropriate management recording system;

Maintain the underground mine plan by continually extending and improving the design as new information presents, (e.g. operational performance, environmental factors etc.) to Make certain that the plan remains relevant, and maximizes the recovery volumes and rates;

Work in accordance with statutory responsibilities.
You’ll succeed if you have

Registration (Board of Surveying & Spatial Information)
-
Mine Surveyors Certificate of Competency
-
Working knowledge of underground mining survey processes and operations
-
Prior practical surveying experience (working in an underground coal mine would be an advantage)
-
Proactive and self-motivated attitude
-
Demonstrate ability to apply risk management principles to ensure safe work practices
-
High- level computer competency, sound AutoCad and Microsoft Office skills
-
Strong Communication skills
-
Highly effective planning, organising and problem-solving skills
