The role in a nutshell
Reporting to Supply Chain Canada’s tactical Procurement lead, the Buyer will be in charge of the daily buying activities for the category assigned supporting the Glencore operations in North America. In this role you will work collaboratively with each department to ensure the proper management of their requirements, ensuring de backlog is maintained against department objectives, increase policy awareness and improve transactional efficiencies. You will remain the primary point of contact for the various departments managing the products and services require to support ongoing operations..
More specifically, you will be expected to:
- Using Coupa on a daily basis, maintain the quality of the views and related files, manage the timely review of requisitions, moving to purchase orders in a professional and timely manner.
- Provide training for Coupa and the management of requisitions and transactions and the P2P and DOA policies.
- When required, utilize the Category Leads who management the contracts for the goods and services in your portfolio who will negotiate and manage add-ons or changes to agreements with suppliers for Glencore’s benefit.
- Be fluent in the Coupa P2P functionality
- Be fluent in Glencore’s Policies and Procedures
- Liaises with various departments to explain the buying processes
- Liaise with current and prospective suppliers.
- Be knowledgeable in the Coupa reporting functionality to be able to manage your requisitions daily all of which will support the monthly reporting requirements.
- Be familiar with the Supply Chain Cananda structure allowing you to answer clarification questions clearly and with confidence.
- Ability to manage multiple requirements, operating sites and projects, tasks, activities at once – prioritize and respond
Do you have what it takes?
- Post – secondary education, with some experience working as a buyer,
- materials management role, in an industrial environment.
- A solid understanding ofP2P processes with a background in procurement .
- Proficiency in both French and English, in written and spoken form, is required due to the diversity of our site and supplier base.
- High degree of computer literacy including spreadsheets, word documents and presentations.
- Experience working with an ERP, buying application, SAP, Coupa or Ariba.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to work as part of a centralized team.
- Ability to influence and manage change in a difficult environment.
Travel: visit to operating sites from time to time
Location: based in Laval. In office 5 days a week.
