In this role you will be responsible for:

• Assisting in process monitoring, control and implementation of management instructions
• Monitoring the metal slag analysis and report deviations to supervisor
• Ensuring that the furnace is properly loaded
• Conducting inspections on all floors of the furnace building
• Monitoring and reporting of the tapping process of the furnace
• Operating the furnace in accordance with established procedures and works instructions
• Ensuring good housekeeping in the area of responsibility
• Complying and adhering to the Health and Safety standards in the area of work
• Adhering to all HSECQ requirements to ensure compliance with relevant policies and procedures
• Assisting in shutdown activities

 

About you:

• Grade 12 or equivalent NQF level 4 qualification
• Basic metallurgy and smelting knowledge
• Basic Furnace and electrode operation understanding
• SCADA and MES knowledge will be an advantage
• Good administration, communication and interpersonal skills
• Computer literate for the role
• At least 2 Years’ general furnace experience in a Smelter environment
