In this role you will be responsible for:

Lead and manage the Instrumentation team to achieve operational, maintenance and reliability targets
Provide technical leadership and governance for all plant instrumentation, PLC, SCADA and control systems
Ensure the safe and reliable installation, maintenance and optimisation of instrumentation and control infrastructure across the plant
Drive plant reliability, equipment availability and process optimisation initiatives
Develop and implement preventative and predictive maintenance strategies for instrumentation assets
Lead fault finding, root cause analysis and failure investigations relating to control and instrumentation systems
Oversee shutdown planning, execution and post-shutdown performance reviews
Manage instrumentation-related capital projects, upgrades and continuous improvement initiatives
Ensure compliance with engineering standards, statutory requirements, HSEC standards and company procedures
Manage budgets, contractor performance, spare parts and SAP PM reporting for instrumentation department
Provide leadership, coaching and development to the instrumentation team
Participate in standby and provide senior technical support during plant breakdowns and critical incidents

About you:

NQF7 or higher in Electrical Engineering, Instrumentation or related field
Instrumentation Trade Test
Minimum 8–10 years’ experience in industrial instrumentation, control systems and process optimisation within heavy industry, mining, smelting or metallurgical operations
At least 3–5 years’ leadership / supervisory experience
Extensive experience in PLC, SCADA, DCS programming, fault finding and development
Strong project management and continuous improvement track record
Experience with SAP PM, MES, MS Projects and advanced maintenance systems
Strong leadership, problem-solving and stakeholder engagement capability
ECSA registration will be highly advantageous
