In this role you will be responsible for:

Lead and manage the electrical engineering and maintenance function across the smelter operation
Provide technical leadership and governance for all medium voltage (MV) and low voltage (LV) electrical systems
Ensure safe, reliable and efficient operation of electrical reticulation, protection systems, transformers and power distribution networks
Drive electrical reliability, plant availability and power system stability
Develop and implement electrical maintenance strategies, including preventative and predictive maintenance programmes
Oversee shutdown planning, execution and electrical work integration
Conduct and approve electrical reticulation studies, protection coordination and emergency power supply strategies
Manage and optimise emergency power systems, generators and backup supply infrastructure
Ensure compliance with all statutory, engineering, safety and HSEC requirements, including electrical standards and regulations
Lead root cause analysis and failure investigations related to electrical systems and major breakdowns
Manage budgets, contractors, service providers and electrical CAPEX projects
Provide leadership, coaching and development to electrical engineering teams

About you:

Degree or National Diploma (NQF 6 or higher) in Electrical Engineering or equivalent
Minimum 8–10 years’ experience in heavy industry, mining, smelting or metallurgical operations
At least 3–5 years’ leadership experience in electrical engineering or maintenance teams
Strong experience in MV/LV systems, protection schemes, transformers and electrical reticulation
Proven experience in electrical system design, fault finding, protection coordination and power system studies
Strong project management and shutdown planning experience
GCC Factories will be highly advantageous
Experience with SAP PM and maintenance management systems
Strong knowledge of HSEC systems and electrical safety standards
Excellent leadership, communication and stakeholder management skills
