About the role:

Reporting to the Senior Geologist Supervisor, the Geologist or Geologist-in-Training (GIT) is responsible for collaborating with a group of professionals to support mining operations at Fording River. The successful candidate will learn geology practices under the guidance and mentorship of a team committed to achieving safe production and sustainability. At EVR, a GIT will develop over a 4-year program with rotations approximately every 18 to 24 months, giving you the experience and exposure to build well-rounded skills to become a highly successful professional geologist.

To be successful, we are looking for an analytical and detail-orientated person with strong interpersonal skills, who can build and maintain positive relationships in a team setting. This individual is able to collaborate with various personnel within all aspects of the operation, and ensure accurate information is available to alldepartments and stakeholders. Lastly, this person is organized and can prioritize competing demands in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.

In this role you will:

  • Participate in and adhere to health and safety programs and policies
  • Work within our safety culture, sustainability strategy, and environmental commitments
  • Design and implement annual reverse circulation and large diameter core drilling programs including the development of EHSC plans, contractor management, budgeting and cost tracking, data validation, and rigorous QAQC
  • Conduct drill rig visits and investigations to support risk management of field operations in accordance with best practices
  • Support planning and budgeting of long-range exploration programs to optimize resource definition and project objectives
  • The ideal candidate combines strong analytical skills with a practical understanding of open-pit mining and geology concepts
  • Possess a strong desire to work in the field and collaborate with technical and operational departments to achieve results

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Geology, Geological Engineering, or related field
  • Registered, or eligible to register, with Engineers and Geoscientists of British Columbia (EGBC); EVR will support eligible employees with their EGBC registration
  • Strong digital literacy in database and geological modelling software; experience with statistical analysis tools is an asset
  • Valid Class 5 Driver’s License or equivalent
  • Experience in a mining environment; previous experience in open pit, truck and shovel operations is preferred

For applicants registered as a GIT, annual base salary will be determined by EVR's formal progression matrix based on verified relevant years of experience. The salary range for this position is $91,300 –$126,800.      


The actual base salary offered is determined based on the successful candidate’s relevant experience, skills, and competencies and considers internal equity.
