About the role:
 
Grow with us. As a Mine Engineer or Engineer-in-Training (EIT), this is your opportunity to be part of the future of mining. At EVR, you will learn engineering practices with the guidance and mentorship of a team committed to cutting-edge technology and sustainability. Our sustainability strategy sets long-term goals to drive improved performance across our activities, including achieving net-zero emissions across our operations.  
 
At EVR, you’ll develop over a 4-year program with rotations every 12 to 18 months, giving you the experience and exposure to build well-rounded skills to succeed in the industry. Reporting to the Senior Engineer Supervisor, Mining, a Mine Engineer or Mine EIT is responsible for working with a group of professionals to support the mining operations.

Working at Fording River Operations in BC’s Elk Valley, you’ll have the opportunity to gain experience in long range planning, drill and blast engineering, dispatch engineering, and more. In this role you will:

  • Participate in and adhere to health and safety programs and policies
  • Work within our safety culture, sustainability strategy, environmental commitments, strengthens collaboration, reduces risk, increases shareholder confidence, and is integrated with the other business areas  
  • Integrate water quality, biodiversity goals, community values and Indigenous perspective supporting sustainable mine planning and industry stewardship  
  • Help with the development, tracking, and reporting of compliance to mine permits  
  • Perform economic evaluations, productivity analyses, and assist with capital expenditure documentation  
  • Work in wide ranges of mine planning, design, and analytics, including pit and dump design, traditionally operated and autonomous fleets, production scheduling, and optimization 

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mining, Geological Engineering, or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Registered, or eligible to register, with Engineers and Geoscientists of British Columbia (EGBC); EVR will support eligible employees with their EGBC registration 
  • Strong digital literacy in mining related software  
  • Experience in a mining environment; previous experience in open pit, truck and shovel operations is an asset  
Salary: $99,440 / year

The actual base salary offered is determined based on the successful candidate’s relevant experience, skills, and competencies and considers internal equity.
