About the role:
Reporting to the Health and Safety Coordinator, the Loss Prevention Officer is responsible for matters related to health, safety, and site security. This position follows a 4x4 schedule rotation of day shifts. This temporary position is expected to be for a 6-month term.
To be successful, we are looking for someone with the ability to work in a high-risk environment that requires a balance of strict compliance enforcement and strong, trust-based interpersonal skills to foster a safety-first culture. The role demands a blend of observation, communication, safety conscious and crisis management abilities to protect both company assets and worker safety.

In this role you will:
- Participate in and adhere to health and safety programs and policies
- Support the implementation of High Potential Risk Control and Occupational Health and Hygiene strategies
- Participate in risk assessments, gap analyses and effectiveness reviews
- Perform industrial hygiene monitoring, control access, and egress to site
- Facilitate training for health and safety initiatives and New Hire Orientation
- Support awareness initiatives and health and safety program education, including confined space, hazardous energy isolation, and fall protection
- Perform health and safety inspections and participate in audits
- Provide overall site protection, including fire systems
- Guide employees and contractors on the application of site procedures and programs
- Provide first aid services, drug and alcohol sample collection, and complete accurate first aid reports
- Assist contractor risk management by reviewing safe work plans
- Assist the development and implementation of Occupational Health and Safety programs
- Support safety incident investigations
Requirements:
- Minimum OFA Level III certification
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Two years of relevant industry experience in a Health and Safety role or a Mine Rescue ticket is an asset
- Strong computer skills, particularly with the Microsoft Office Suite®: Excel, Word, and Outlook
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills with the ability to speak in front of large groups
- Ability to excel in a high-performance atmosphere
- Valid Class 5 Driver’s License or equivalent
Salary: $70,000 / year
The actual base salary offered is determined based on the successful candidate’s relevant experience, skills, and competencies and considers internal equity.
