At EVR there are currently 5 water treatment facilities which use a variety of treatment technologies to achieve compliance of mine impacted water in the receiving environment. The successful applicant will be placed at any one of the following facilities based on education, experience and business need.
Saturated Rock Fill (SRF) – Fording River Operation North (FRON) & Elkview Operations (EVO):
- EOCP Certification - Level 4 wastewater treatment
- Innovative, passive water treatment using waste rock backfilled pits as a natural bioreactor to remove contaminants from mine impacted water
Active Water Treatment Facility (AWTF) – Fording River Operations South (FROS):
- EOCP Certification - Level 4 wastewater treatment
- Technology – fluidized bed reactor, moving bed biofilm reactor, ballasted sand clarifier, continuous backwash sand filter, filter press, and advanced oxidation process (ozone generation).
Reverse Osmosis and High-Density Sludge (ROHDS) – Dry Creek (LCDC)
- EOCP Certification - New facility 2026, pending certification.
- Technology – ultrafiltration, reverse osmosis, high density sludge (HDS) system, lime slaking, filter press and remineralization system.
AWTF & ROHDS combined – West Line Creek (WLC)
- EOCP Certification - Level 4 wastewater treatment
- Technology – fluidized bed reactor, moving bed biofilm reactor, ballasted sand clarifier, continuous backwash sand filter, advanced oxidation process (ozone generation). Ultrafiltration, Reverse Osmosis, High Density Sludge (HDS), Lime Slaking, Filter Press, Remineralization.

In this role you will:
- Participate in and adhere to health and safety programs and policies
- Ensure compliance with British Columbia legislation as it relates to mine water treatment facilities
- Work along side the process engineering team to ensure performance objectives are achieved and reporting requirements are met, Conduct routine water sampling, laboratory, and quality control testing; prepare reagents and manage the collection and dispatch of hazardous waste and third-party samples.
- Execute routine and non-routine operational activities as required, including: Process control adjustments based on analytical data and process setpoints, equipment troubleshooting, start-ups and shutdowns, bulk chemical offloads, isolation or lock-out/tag-out, and draining, de-pressurization and flushing of isolated equipment.
- Equipment troubleshooting and work order generation with maintenance team along with contractor management
- Operate mobile equipment such as skid steer, loader, bin truck, telehandler, forklift, scissor lift.
Requirements:
- Diploma in water and wastewater treatment or combination of relevant training certifications and related industry field operations experience.
- Strong mechanical understanding of process equipment
- Capable of performing physically demanding work.
- Strong digital literacy and proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite®; especially Excel
- Previous experience with SCADA, Programmable Logic Controllers and Human Machine Interface systems is considered an asset
- Level I, II, or III Water or Wastewater Treatment certificate
- Level IV Water or Wastewater Treatment certificate is considered an asset
- Valid Class 5 Driver’s License or equivalent
The actual base salary offered is determined based on the successful candidate’s relevant experience, skills, and competencies and considers internal equity.
