About the role:
 
Reporting to the Payroll Specialist, the Administrative Assistant, Payroll collects, verifies and processes Payroll information. They are the first point of contact for employees with questions or issues related to their pay or benefits.
 
To be successful, we are looking for someone with effective interpersonal and communication skills. Someone who is organized, has strong attention to detail, is adaptable, eager to learn, and able to prioritize contending demands in a fast-paced environment.

In this role you will:

  • Participate in and adhere to health and safety programs and policies
  • Assist with new hire onboarding
  • Monitor Time and Attendance exceptions, ensuring all exceptions are cleared prior to time export
  • Responsible for time entry of training courses, mine rescue and other exceptions
  • Assist in the preparation of Payroll in accordance with the Employee Handbook, CBA, BC Employment Standards and all other government legislation
  • Assist in month end reporting and close for Payroll
  • Assist in annual preparation and reconciliation of taxable benefits and T4/T4A’s
  • Assist with updating and standardizing Payroll business process documents, training documents and checklists
  • Respond to queries from employees and other departments

Requirements:

  • Completion of high school diploma or GED with minimal related experience
  • Proven computer skills, particularly Microsoft Excel and Word. Skilled in Payroll applications, with SAP SuccessFactors experience preferred
  • Proven high levels of integrity and confidentiality
  • Ability to prioritize, work under pressure with minimal guidance and meet constant deadlines
  • Valid Class 5 Driver’s License or equivalent
The actual base salary offered is determined based on the successful candidate’s relevant experience, skills, and competencies and considers internal equity.
