Reporting to the Manager, the Supervisor, Safety & Loss Control is responsible for establishing and assisting in the implementation of effective safety programs within Line Creek Operations to promote and maintain safe and healthy working conditions.

To be successful, we require someone with a passion for continuous improvement with supervisory experience who can multitask, stay organized, and adjust to changing priorities in a fast-paced team environment. This person is self-motivated, and possesses strong attention to detail, and problem-solving and decision-making abilities. This role requires a high level of integrity and an ability to know your audience, thus presentation, communication and interpersonal skills are vital.

In this role you will:

  • Participate in and adhere to health and safety programs and policies
  • Mentor and develop a team of Safety Coordinators, Emergency Response Coordinator and/or Loss Prevention Officers to ensure consistency and high quality of work
  • Ensure Line Creek Operations meets its strategic Health and Safety Objectives in High Potential Risk Control, Occupational Health, program implementation, Occupational Health & Hygiene commitments and Courageous Safety Leadership
  • Provide technical support and functional leadership to site departments and personnel in areas related to health and safety
  • Monitor investigation practices to assess compliance with regulations and EVR policies
  • Ensure adequate emergency response requirements are met
  • Ensure that employees, contractors and regulatory authorities working on site are advised of the safety policies and regulations of EVR and monitor their compliance with these regulations
  • Provide support to maintain and deliver the site’s Exposure Treatment Plan
  • Guide and mentor the Joint Occupational Health and Safety Committee
  • Develop, coordinate and conduct necessary safety training, audits and inspections
  • Maintain site and corporate safety reporting requirements
  • Sustain the Health and Safety Management program that supports managing safe work and workplace hazard communication
  • Contribute to the maintenance of safe working environments by regularly inspecting work areas, reporting on practices and conditions found
  • Perform other responsibilities as required or as assigned

Requirements:

  • Diploma or Degree in Occupational Health and Safety are considered an asset
  • Minimum five years related experience supervising a safety team
  • Familiar with high potential risk control strategies and risk management tools, such as risk assessments, gap analyses, and effectiveness reviews
  • Possession of a CRSP designation would be an asset
  • Proficient in Mine Rescue, First Aid and Emergency Response would be an asset
  • Valid Class 5 Driver’s License or equivalent
The actual base salary offered is determined based on the successful candidate’s relevant experience, skills, and competencies and considers internal equity.
