About the role:  

Reporting to the Manager Engineering, at Greenhills Operations, the Senior Engineer Supervisor, Long Range Planning is responsible for leading a team in the development of operational long range mine plans and projects that sustain the life of our operations while mitigating risks. This role has a key focus to optimize long range designs through the economic, environmental, cultural and social lenses. Primary activities of the team include pit optimization, detailed mine design and scheduling, and options analysis. This role will be primarily office-based but with field requirements as necessary.

In this role you will:

  • Participate in and adhere to health and safety programs and policies 
  • Progress mine planning best practices to include sustainability, stakeholder/Indigenous integration, technology evaluation, and closure aspects
  • Complete mine plan optimization studies, long-range plans scenario analysis and various project studies 
  • Build and maintain strategic long-range planning models including economic evaluation and options analysis
  • Assist in communicating mine plan guidance to inform operational plans
  • Contribute to a technical environment and culture that is inclusive, rewarding, collaborative and integrated with technical, sustainability and operating functions
  • Training and mentorship of long-range planning technical personnel contributing to a technical succession pipeline 

Requirements:

  • Degree in Mining Engineering or similar with a minimum of ten years of varied experience in roles of progressively increasing technical responsibility in mine planning
  • Registered with or eligible for registration with Engineers and Geoscientists B.C. (EGBC); EVR will support eligible employees with their EGBC registration, with the ability to act as a direct supervisor for engineers-in-training
  • Demonstration of technical mining knowledge with strong strategic and systems thinking skills
  • Experience in mine design and scheduling, practitioner with EVR’s selected mine design and scheduling/evaluation solutions is an asset (MinePlan3D, XPAC Solutions, COMET)
  • Ability to work and communicate effectively with various collaborators, including operational and interdepartmental teams, external consultants, and subject matter experts
  • Valid Class 5 Driver’s License or equivalent 
The actual base salary offered is determined based on the successful candidate’s relevant experience, skills, and competencies and considers internal equity.
