About the role:
Reporting to the Senior Engineering Supervisor – Short Range, the Mining Engineer is responsible for working as part of a team in support of developing and optimizing 2-week planning. This role involves all aspects of short-range planning including the following:
- Drill and blast planning
- Shovel scheduling
- Coal release planning
- Waste dump planning
- Pit Dewatering
- Lining up survey controls
- Checking as-built surveys to designs and documenting

Reporting to the Senior Engineer Supervisor, Mining, a Mine Engineer or Mine EIT is responsible for working with a group of professionals to support the mining operations.

Working at Fording River Operations in BC’s Elk Valley, you’ll have the opportunity to gain experience in long range planning, drill and blast engineering, dispatch engineering, and more. The position is located on-site and the ability to reliably commute/relocate near Sparwood and Elkford, B.C is necessary. We support successful candidates during their transition to find accommodation.

In this role you will:
- Participate in and adhere to health and safety programs and policies

- Integrate water quality, biodiversity goals, community values and Indigenous perspective supporting sustainable mine planning and industry stewardship
- Help with the development, tracking, and reporting of compliance to mine permits
- Perform economic evaluations, productivity analyses, and assist with capital expenditure documentation
- Work in wide ranges of mine planning, design, and analytics, including pit and dump design, traditionally operated and autonomous fleets, production scheduling, and optimization
For applicants registered as an EIT or GIT, annual base salary will be determined by EVR's formal progression matrix based on verified relevant years of experience
